The cabins carried these names long before this website existed — the Waystation, the Alpine, the Monitor, Silver Creek, Lord & Lady Chalmers, the River Cabin. Each one below opens with the story behind its name, told from the record rather than made up for the occasion: a toll road, a county built on silver, a mining camp up Loope Canyon, a log-drive creek, and a couple who waited by the stage road. Cabin №8 is the exception; its story is still being written down.

Every cabin's nightly rate is printed on its card below, and it is the same rate the booking page charges; Friday and Saturday nights cost a little more, and cabin stays add Alpine County's 14% occupancy tax. Open dates live on the booking page too. If you want to know which cabin has the clawfoot tub and which has the wood stove, or you want to put a tent in the yard beside one, call (530) 694-2229 and ask — that is faster than any page.

Hunting Zone X-8 this fall? The cabins are inside the zone, four minutes from Markleeville — the deer season page has the dates, the tags, and where to have a deer countersigned.

This is one of the more beautiful remote camping spots for your RV where you can get hook-ups. There are dry camping spots available too. Connie, the host is absolutely the best! This has to be the road cycling Mecca of the world!

RV & Camping

Eleven riverside sites on the East Fork take a tent or an RV — no hookups down there, and one rate for everybody — while fifteen spaces up top run full 20/30/50-amp power, water and sewer, big rigs included. Free showers, a dump station and the general store are all on the property. Harvest Hosts members welcome.

The campground is clean, and sits right along the beautiful Carson River, providing a peaceful setting to relax and enjoy the outdoors. We stayed in site #10 which is away from the main campground. … We especially enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of the river and waking up to stunning mountain views.
