The policy

Dogs are welcome in every cabin, on the porches, at every riverside site, up on the RV row, and down at the riverbank with you. There is nowhere on this property a dog cannot stay.

The only place a dog costs anything is a cabin — $30 flat for the whole visit, however many come along — and that is a cleaning charge, not a surcharge for the dog. Camping with a dog is free. Tick the dog box when you book a cabin, or just say so on the phone, and the fee goes on the receipt with everything else.

The river

The East Fork runs the whole length of the property, and the bank is where the resort's own dogs spend their day. In spring runoff, roughly May into June, the water comes down high, fast and cold; by late summer it has dropped and the shallows are where most dogs end up. Use your own judgement with a small dog and a strong current, the same as anywhere in the Sierra.

Fees and fine print

$30 flat for the whole visit — one fee, however many dogs, added to your receipt when you book a cabin. It is charged once per stay, not per night and not per dog, and it is there because the room has to be cleaned after — it is a cleaning fee, not a charge for the dog.

Camping with a dog is free. The riverside sites and the RV row take dogs at no extra cost; there is nothing to declare and nothing to pay. If you're travelling with more than a couple, or with a dog that needs particular handling, call ahead at (530) 694-2229.

The resort keeps four dogs of its own — Carson, River, Lila and Lilly — so yours will be in company.

Beyond the property

Bears, coyotes and mountain lions live in this country, so keep a dog leashed after dark and keep food put away. Beyond the fence the county is mostly public land and there is a great deal of it to walk. We don't print a trail list here because conditions and post-fire closures change through the season — ask at the counter instead, and you'll get somewhere that is open this week.
