In September 2021 a video went up titled "Carson River Sasquatch Video Climbs Tree" — a dark shape on a ridge above a camp, spotted, and then climbing. It has been watched about a hundred and eight thousand times. In April 2025 the same channel, Rocky Mountain Sasquatch, posted a follow-up — "Carson River Bigfoot Climbs Tree on Video" — and that one has passed a hundred and seventy-six thousand views. Around here, nobody needed the videos to tell them which ridge that is: the one straight across the river from campsite 4.
Watch them yourself and make up your own mind — the 2021 video and the 2025 follow-up are both on YouTube. What we can vouch for is the geography: the ridge is real, the river between you and it is real, and the far bank has documented residents — a cinnamon black bear walks it on our own footage, deer cross at the riffles, and eagles work the canyon. Whether something else is up there too is between you and the tree line.
The viewing platform for all of this is a picnic table. Campsite 4 faces the ridge dead-on across the water — book it by number like any riverside site — and the evening routine writes itself: dinner on the table, eyes on the slope, one person swearing the shadow by the big pine just moved. Bring binoculars for the birds either way; they work on shadows too. And if your camera catches something, bring it to the counter — the store's wall has room, and the people behind it will want to see.
The legend has a gift shelf now. The General Store carries the resort's sasquatch tumbler alongside the mugs and the carved welcome bears — proof that whatever is or isn't on the ridge, it has already earned its place at the counter. Come for a night on the river, leave with the story and the cup.
