Camp Stargaze is plain camping on the hilltop above the resort: pick a spot, set up, and wait for dark. There are no hookups and no marked rows — the whole point of the hill is the room to spread out. The river valley sits below you, and Alpine County is the least-populated county in California, which is a dry way of saying there is almost nothing down there to put light in the sky.
Campfires are allowed, and when fire restrictions are declared the posted rules apply — ask at the store and you will get a straight answer. Bring more layers than you think you need: nights run cold at this elevation even in August. The store, the showers and the river are all at the bottom of the hill, a few minutes down.
